Christian Education at St. John's is overseen by the Christian Growth and Development Committee and includes Adult Education, Church School, and Youth Programs.
Adult Education is comprised of programs to allow the adults in our parish to expand their Christian education. There are also several series of class each year ranging in topic from A History of the Prayer Book to an Inquirer's Class.
The fall 2019 program will be in conjunction with the adult Confirmation class based on “I will with God’s help”.
Formation for our young members Pre-K through 5th grade begins its program year on September 15. The class meets at 9:30 am and the children join their families in worship at the Peace. We use the lectionary-based Spark Curriculum. Our formation for children continues in the summer. In 2018 one of our college students developed and taught a curriculum which she developed called “God’s Green Earth” featuring bible stories and activities focused on water, animals, and plants. The program in 2019 was “Building Faith Brick by Brick”. See below for pictures.
Classes for youth (ages 15 and 16) and adults (who wish to be confirmed or received) will begin in September. The Right Reverend Mary Glasspool will be with us on Sunday, December 1, 2019.
St. John's has in the past implemented a nationally used and praised youth program entitled Journey to Adulthood. We are currently in a period of transition with our program.
